SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
4.1 Childline Caregivers Training
This training is developed by Childline to assist in the development of basic skills as caregivers. The training deals with important skills caregivers should have.
The trainees reported at the end of each day that they gained relevant knowledge and are better equipped to deal with children in their capacity as caregivers.

4.2 Mediation and the Children’s Act (38 of 2005)
This training was developed to equip professional people with knowledge regarding the Children’s Act (38 of 2005) and mediation. This is applicable to all social workers that are involved in working with families as it is important to be knowledgeable regarding parental responsibilities and rights of parents, rights and responsibilities of children and which procedures the Children’s Act put in place to adhere to the best interest of children in all family matters. 4 CPD points were allocated to this training by the SACSSP (council for social workers).
The feedback received from the trainees were positive and trainees expressed their gratitude to be equipped with knowledge that can assist them in their day-to-day work.

4.3 Basic Training in Family and Divorce Mediation
The basic training in family and divorce mediation was developed for professional people with a background in the social sciences and legal fraternity to empower them to assist families in conflict with proper, structured mediation services.
18 CPD points were allocated by the SACSSP (council for social workers) for this training.
Positive feedback was received from the trainees at the end of this training.
